A "new" character creation method

I am not sure where have I seen this character creation method, possibly in Talislanta or some D&D E6 rules, but it really grabbed my imagination, and I do think it is awesome, so I will share it here, passing the word. It is a good way for players to choose their ability scores, while having both a random element, and a maintaining fairness. Behold!

So the method is the following. You create a 6 by 6 table, and start rolling the dice, filling the little brackets as you go along. For this table here I used 3d6 and I rerolled everything 6 or below, because I like don't like inept characters, but you can use whatever method you feel like using. I suggest 3d6 for 5th edition though, instead of 4d6 drop lowest. When you are finished, you should get something like this below. Now players can select any of the rows or columns as their ability scores, from any direction. They can start from below, or top, or left or right, they can even choose the diagonal lines as well, but they CANNOT change the order of the abilities. And basically that's it. All your stats are done in under 5 minute for the whole campaign.
(note: If you get some really good scores in one row, you might wanna switch some around, so there is no obvious best choice, but if you are fan randomness, go ahead)
